Oral Medication
Oral Medication is the most popular medication due to the ease of application. Medication is either absorbed through the blood stream in the mouth (Lozenge) or swallowed and absorbed through the blood stream in the stomach (Tablets).
There are two types of Oral Medication, Sublingual Tablets (Lozenges) or Tablets. At the Australian Men's Clinic we only prescribe lozenges as patient comfort is a high priority for us. Sublingual Tablets (Lozenges) Lozenges are administered 20 to 30 minutes prior to intercourse. Once administered, sexual stimulation is needed to result in an erection. We currently have 3 types of Lozenges used to treat ED. Ciala-Phen (5mg of Tadalafil & 10mg of Phentolamine), Levitra-Phen (5mg of Vardenafil & 10mg of Phentolamine) and Apo-Phen (6mg of Apomorphine & 10mg of Phentolamine). Because they are absorbed through the blood stream in the mouth: • A smaller dose is required • A quicker response is usual • There is less risk of any side effects • They bypass the digestive tract, so they aren’t effected by a heavy meal. Side Effects are minimal but can include: • Headaches • Warm flushing of skin • Blocked nose • Prolonged erection • Diarrhea • Stomach cramps • Dry mouth • Allergic rashes • Blue-green or blurred vision • Dizziness • Palpitations |
